My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nyla!

Nyla is a beautiful and sweet 3-year-old shepherd mix with a stunning medium-length coat in rich chestnut mahogany tones. She resembles a blend of German Shepherd and Belgian Shepherdpossibly even a long-haired Belgian Tervurenand she turns heads wherever she goes. Weighing 59 pounds, Nyla is house and crate trained and eager to please. Shes already learning basic commands like sit and is very treat-motivated, making her a joy to work with. While she could benefit from continued leash training, she catches on quickly with positive reinforcement.

Nyla is affectionate, people-oriented, and enjoys toys and being loved on. During her time with our volunteers, she preferred to stay close, checking in often and choosing companionship over wandering off. If she did step away, it was only briefly to do some sniffing before happily returning. Her energy level appears more medium to even medium-low, especially once shes had a chance to settle and connect with her people. She enjoys playful interactions with other dogs and had fun running along the fenceno aggression, just happy energy. That said, she can be selective about her canine friends, so a meet-and-greet is recommended for any potential dog siblings. Due to her herding instincts, Nyla would do best in a home without cats and is not well-suited for a farm environment with livestock.

Nyla would thrive with a confident, attentive owner who enjoys companionship and can continue her training and guidance. Shes the kind of dog who wants to be with yousharing space, affection, and everyday moments. If youre looking for a loyal, loving shepherd mix with both beauty and heart, Nyla may be your perfect match.

Our adoption process takes several steps and cannot be completed in one day. All of our volunteers work full time and assist the rescue in their spare time. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

* Applicants must be willing to make a ten plus year commitment to their new family member.

* Applicants must commit to daily exercise, walks, trips to the dog park or play in the back yard. A well exercised dog is a happy well behaved dog!

* Applicants living in a rental property must provide proof of pet policy from landlord.

* Applicants must provide a veterinarian reference and if there are existing dogs in the household. All pets must be spayed/neutered and current on all shots and heartworm medication.

*Please allow at least a 7-14 day adjustment period for your new dog. Rescue dogs go thru a lot of changes and need a few days to get used to their new surroundings and adjust. Adopting a dog should be a serious commitment, so please be willing to work out the kinks. Our dogs aren't perfect but with proper training and guidance they make awesome, loving pets.

*Our adoption fees vary based on the age and medical needs of the dogs.
