My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Apia has been a wonderful, attentive mom, but now she deserves a well-earned break and some tender loving care of her own. She is a little shy at first, but beneath that she is quite confident and gentle. With a bit of patience and a calm environment, her personality truly starts to shine.

Apia enjoys being picked up, petted, and playing (when she gets the chance!), and she has been an exceptional momma-carefully looking after and feeding all of her kittens. She doesn't appear afraid of dogs or other cats, though she hasn't had much one-on-one interaction yet. She previously lived in a home with many cats and would enjoy the company of another calm feline, but she would also thrive with undivided attention where she can finally be the center of someone's world.

If you have a cozy spot on your couch and room in your heart for sweet Apia, please fill out an application using the link below.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
