My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

True to her name, Breezy brings a burst of bright, joyful energy everywhere she goes. This 10-month-old sweetheart is full of wiggles, zoomies, and enthusiasm for life — the kind of dog who wakes up excited to see what the day holds (and who she gets to love along the way).

Breezy is friendly with everyone she meets, from people to other animals. She just assumes the world is full of potential best friends, and honestly? She’s not wrong. 💕

She’s still young and could use some training to help channel all that energy into good manners, but she’s eager to please and has such a loving heart that she’s going to blossom beautifully with guidance and consistency.

Breezy’s Ideal Home:
An active family or person ready for playtime, walks, and a little training adventure. In return, Breezy will give endless affection, loyalty, and a whole lot of tail wags.

If your life could use more laughter, love, and happy chaos, Breezy is ready to blow right into your heart and make herself at home. 🐶💖

More about this shelter

We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
