3-year-old female Chiweenie, about 8 pounds. Sabine is a sweet, snuggly girl. Sabine was rescued from a dog-hoarding situation, and she does very well with other dogs and cats, but can be timid toward humans, but is very afraid of men. However, she immediately became very attached to her female foster human and is a very loyal little velcro dog. She is a great walking buddy; she loves to trot at a surprisingly fast clip and displays no leash aggression at all to other dogs. Sabine would prefer a fenced yard, as she keeps to herself sniffing around and conducting business without trouble - definitely not a runner once she attaches to you. She would prefer to follow you around or sleep in a dog bed nearby but prefers your lap! Sabine does not show separation anxiety and does fine left at home alone. She likes to be let out fairly frequently but otherwise does well with housetraining. She’s moderately food motivated. Sabine would be the perfect fit for a single woman or female-only household, especially if you work remotely or are retired. She has shown a strong fear response to her male foster human. She is timid toward female visitors but warmed up relatively quickly. To request an adoption application, email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com

More about this rescue
Smidget Rescue was founded in December of 2010. We started off saving small dogs off the euthanasia list in California shelters. We have evolved over the years and now concentrate
on local Washington dogs; from local shelters, direct owner surrenders and strays. We have have found homes for over 3000 dogs since inception.
Our mission is to help rehome homeless and unwanted dogs in Washington State by providing the resources to enable proper matchmaking for the dog and the new family. We do not do same day adoptions because our process requires an application process with reference/background and physical home checks. This process ensures we meet the goals of our mission.
