My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Suzie is a lovely, beauty of a cat who has so much love to share with a lucky person. Suzie came to the SPCA with her sister, Sally, after their elderly guardian became unable to care for them. They are lovely, affectionate, and friendly cats and will make a great addition to a home. They would do well adopted into a home together but would also be fine on their own. Sally is the sweeter of the two where Suzie can be a bit sassier. We don't know if they have ever been around children or other animals before, besides her sister, so would need proper, slow introductions. Suzie is used to a quiet adult home and may be a bit shy or anxious at first in a busy environment. Suzie loves attention and pets plus napping in a cozy spot when she's tired out. She will certainly make a wonderful addition to your life with all the love she has to share. Meet her, and potentially Sally as well, to fall in love!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
