My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet River! 🐾💫

River was found as a tiny, motherless puppy with her littermates in Laredo and has been thriving in foster care ever since. Born around December 1, 2025, she earned her name because she loves to “talk” — just like Joan Rivers!

River has a mostly white coat with beautiful markings around her eyes, a single “wing” marking on her shoulder, and a small spot near her tail. One of the smaller girls in the litter, she’s still quick, playful, and loves tumbling around with her siblings. She’s sweet, smart, great with other dogs, and shows no food aggression.

We’re awaiting DNA results, but we suspect a heeler mix, with an estimated adult weight of 35–50 pounds. Heelers are loyal, intelligent, and active dogs who thrive with engaged families and plenty of mental and physical activity.

More about this rescue

We're a home-based rescue, so there's always someone around to care for the dogs. Most of our dogs are allowed to roam the main yard (as long as they behave themselves), and we have several food and water stations throughout. Every evening, the dogs are tucked into our kennel building with soft bedding.

Our focus is family-friendly dogs who get along with everyone. Of course, we sometimes don't know a dog's temperament until we meet, but we work hard to ensure dogs are going to the right homes for them.

Mission Statement
To provide rescue, rehabilitation and new loving homes for dogs that have been living on the street, abused, abandoned and removed from high kill shelters.
