This helps New Beginnings International Sporting Dog Rescue with pet care costs.
Socialization: Skoda is a very clever girl and is a bit mischievous! She is sweet and affectionate and loves to see and meet new people. She's very friendly and loves to give hugs. She enjoys playing with other dogs and gets along well with them. Cats and kids are unknown.
Training: We are just starting to work on some training with the girls at the ranch. All of the puppies are power chewers, and need kong or other strong toys. They enjoy chewing on ropes as well. House training, jumping and counter surfing are a work in progress, but their litter mates in homes have learned and caught on very quickly. Skoda needs some work on her recall.
Activity requirements: These puppies are active, but mind games do help to wear them out. They would prefer a fenced yard, but daily long walks would also work well for them. Leash training is a work in progress and our staff at the ranch is working with them on leash walking.
Fence requirements: Some sort of running should be available to the puppies daily. Physical fences are preferred, but they can likely be trained to an invisible fence.
Personality: Skoda is very sweet and affectionate. She can be a bit more independent and sneak off to get into mischief. She is playful and does enjoy snuggling up with us at the ranch!
Health history: Skoda is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and on monthly heartworm prevention. She is due for her next leishmaniasis test in November, 2026.
This dog originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. They tested negative before coming to the USA, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years. Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab, but any regular vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab. The cost of the test seems to vary widely by area, but is approximately $150-$250. or if your vet is willing to send the test to a veterinary college lab, cost can be as low as $80.
Foster comments: Skoda is a very sweet puppy with lovely brindle markings. She is kind and affectionate and gets along with everyone! She would be so lucky to have a forever family!
Foster location: Kalamazoo, MI
