Twinkie is a gentle soul with a soft heart and the cutest little quirks. He can be a bit shy at first, but give him a moment—and a few chin scratches—and you’ll see him relax right into you. While his facial expressions might make him look a little grumpy, don’t be fooled. Once Twinkie feels safe, he absolutely melts into snuggles and shows just how sweet and loving he truly is.
Twinkie is one of the survivors of one of the most severe neglect cases the Humane Society of Greater Dayton has ever encountered. Thirty-three animals were rescued from devastating conditions in a Dayton neighborhood home, where they endured filth, overcrowding, extreme neglect, and unsafe living conditions. When Twinkie arrived at our shelter, he—like all the animals from this case—was extremely ill and in need of immediate medical care.
Thanks to the dedication of our care team and the comfort of clean spaces, soft bedding, fresh food, and water, Twinkie has begun to heal. The change was almost immediate. With safety and kindness, his calm, loving nature has started to shine through.
Twinkie is now looking for a patient, compassionate forever home where he can continue building confidence and enjoying the gentle affection he’s been missing for far too long. If you’re looking for a quiet sweetheart who will reward your kindness with trust, snuggles, and endless chin-scratch appreciation, Twinkie may be your perfect match. 🐾💛

More about this shelter
The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be a no-kill animal welfare agency. We are committed to finding great homes for great pets! As a 501(c)(3) nonproft, we receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from individuals, companies and grants to fund our programs and services. We are not affiliated with any other animal agency on a local, state or national level. Since 1902, our organization has been devoted to being a voice for the voiceless. Although we proudly find more than 2,000 animals forever homes every year, we are far more than an adoption center. We currently have a wide array of programs to support animals in our community. Through our high-volume spay and neuter clinic, we are able to help pet owners as well as battle cat overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return. Our humane society agents also work tirelessly to protect pets from cruel and neglectful circumstances through our Cruelty & Neglect Investigations Department. Through our Veterinary Hospital, we can provide top-quality access to veterinary care at a low cost to pet owners. In addition to our many programs, our organization is unique because we are the only agency in the community able to handle all types of animals. This includes cats and dogs but also rabbits, birds, farm animals, pocket pets and exotics. Our organization is committed to providing our community, our state and our region with support and care.
