My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Fostered in the Hamilton region*Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website.

Meet Tupelo and his famous fancy ears. This lovable, playful, affectionate goofball is a full-on bundle of joy. He greets his people with enthusiastic tail wags and plenty of kisses, and hes always up for toys and time with his dog friends.

Tupelo is athletic, fast, and hilariously awkward in the best way. Hes all legs and very proud of it, especially when he shows off his speed and signature jumps. Also known as Tupey, hes fully house-trained and crate-trained. His foster parents even call him the crate king.

Hes building confidence and would thrive with someone excited to work with a dog whos eager to learn and genuinely wants to please. Leash walking is still a work in progress, but his sweet, determined eyes say it all. Hes trying, and hell get there.

End the day with nighttime cuddles and youll have Tupelo exactly where he wants to be. Give Tupey a chance and hell pay you back with endless love and lots of laughs.

Tupelo's ideal home? Tupelos ideal home is with a patient, experienced dog owner whos excited to keep building his skills, especially obedience and leash walking. Hes a smart boy who thrives with structure and a confident handler, and hed love being part of a pack. A home with another dog of similar energy would be a big bonus.

He needs space to burn off energy and have fun, whether thats running, playing fetch, tug of war, or other enriching activities. A fenced backyard would be ideal, along with a relatively quiet neighborhood where he can feel settled and succeed.

Name: Tupelo

Breed: Mixed Breed, Terrier mix

Age: 1 year, 7 months

Weight: 40lb

Sex: Male, neutered

Colour: Brindle, Tri-colour

Medical: No concerns

Good with men: Unsure around men. He may be cautious and reactive at first and would need time, patience, and a calm approach to settle in and feel safe.

Good with women: Yes, friendly

Good with kids 0-6: Not recommended, startles easily

Good with kids 6+: recommended 12+

Good with dogs: Yes. He does especially well with other dogs and needs a home with at least 1 other dog. He has medium to high energy and would benefit from living with a dog of similar or slightly lower energy who can help model calm, neutral behavior.

How does the dog typically act when meeting new people? Tupey's behavior depends on his comfort level. When relaxed, he may approach happily with a wagging tail, offer kisses, and enjoy gentle affection. If he feels unsure or nervous, he tends to approach cautiously or may hold back until he feels safe.

Good with cats: Yes

House trained: Yes

Crate trained: Yes, enters willingly and settles quickly

Resource guarding: None seen

Walks on a leash: Tupey is still building confidence on walks. He can be strong and pull at times, and may feel nervous around cars and trucks, needing gentle coaxing. With consistent guidance and positive reinforcement, he shows a strong willingness to learn, focus, and improve, and enjoys exploring new sights and smells once he feels secure.

Energy level: Medium-High, would benefit from and active family.

Areas to work on: Tupey is a sensitive, smart dog who benefits from patience and consistent guidance. Hes working on building confidence, managing fear of loud noises, and improving leash manners, including leash reactivity and walking politely. He can get excited and may jump up when greeting people, but with structure, positive reinforcement, and gentle guidance, hes making steady progress and shows a real eagerness to learn and please.

Requires detached/single home: yes

Separation anxiety: None seen

Barker: Yes, will bark when startled.

Additional adoption info

R.E.B.E.L Dog Rescue is looking for committed adopters, ready to bring a rescue dog into their life. In order to ensure that we find the best homes for our dogs, adoption applicants must go through an adoption approval process. We receive a number of applications for each dog and only one will be chosen as the successful candidate. Candidates are selected based on the dog's needs. Not being selected for the dog that you applied for does not disqualify you from adopting from us in the future.

Go meet their pets

We do our very best to place our dogs into adoptive homes before they arrive into Canada. This ensures that they have a safe and loving place to go after their long journey up North. All dogs adopted through R.E.B.E.L Dog Rescue will receive a 15 day adoption probation period. This period starts the day the dog enters the care of the adopter. This means that the adoptive family has 15 days to determine that dog is a good fit for them. Although it may feel scary to not meet the dog before adopting, the 15 day period allows you to get to know the dog within your home. If you buy a dog off of Kijiji or at a local shelter you may be given a couple hours to meet the dog. We believe that our program's 15 day probation provides much more insight into how he or she will fit into your home, rather than. a brief meet and greet.
