My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My foster writes: Akelah is a beautiful chatty girl who is curious and playful. She likes to explore, get up high and also take naps with her people. She can be a little apprehensive of new things but gets brave very quickly. once she knows you she will brush against you and ask for pets very cutely!

A volunteer writes:
This stunning 4-year-old all-ebony girl found herself at the shelter after a single scratch incident that happened when she was startled by loud furniture moving. One scared moment shouldn't define a lifetime, and Akelah is proof of that!
Despite arriving fearful and wary, Akelah has blossomed back into the affectionate, playful companion she truly is. She greets visitors at her kennel door with enthusiastic rolls, stretches, purrs, and headbutts-all the classic moves of a cat who's ready to love again. She's shown excellent manners and an easygoing nature, even walking back into her kennel without fuss when needed.
Akelah would thrive in a calm, adult-only home where she can enjoy quiet companionship, plenty of playtime, and the patient love she deserves. She may be cautious with strangers at first, but once she trusts you, this sweet girl will shower you with affection.
Everyone deserves a second chance-Akelah is ready for hers. Could it be with you?

What my friends at ACC say about me:

Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.
