My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Butch: Your Potential Furry Companion
Introduction to Butch
Butch is a charming, seven-pound Cairn Terrier mix, eagerly awaiting a loving forever home. At just under two years old, he's already had more than his fair share of challenges. Despite his rough start, he’s now ready to embark on a new journey with a family that can provide the patience and love he truly deserves.
Butch's Background
A Story of Resilience:
Butch’s life began with adversity. He was confiscated by police in an animal cruelty case and subsequently found himself in a high-kill shelter. Against the odds, Butch needed a hero to rescue him from an uncertain fate. Today, he's healthy, happy, and looking for a family to call his own.
Health and Safety:
Neutered
Microchipped
Vaccinated
Heartworm Negative
Compatibility and Behavior
Pet Compatibility:
Butch is quite sociable with cats and smaller dogs, making him a suitable companion if you already have pets of a similar size but he would prefer a no dog home. However, he tends to become anxious and defensive around larger dogs, which also makes him unsuitable for homes with small children. A quieter environment would be ideal for Butch, where he can feel secure and gradually build trust.
Temperament:
Butch may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once he does, he is incredibly affectionate. His patient family will discover a loyal and loving companion who enjoys spending time by their side.
Training and Habits
Leash and Crate Training:
Butch walks well on a leash, making strolls around the neighborhood enjoyable for both of you.
He is crate trained and respects the house rules, making him a reliable indoor companion.
Butch will let you know when he needs to go outside, ensuring a clean and tidy home environment.
Adoption Information
Butch is available for adoption through Barking Mad Animal Rescue. If you’re looking for a dedicated companion who will reward your patience with endless affection, consider opening your heart and home to Butch. He’s ready to start a new chapter filled with love and security.

More about this rescue

BMAR is a No-Kill facility: a place of safety for healthy adoptable animals, a home for the homeless, a haven for the mistreated, neglected, or abused animals of Sabine & surrounding counties. BMAR also runs a sanctuary for those deemed unadoptible due to medical and behavior issues.

100% Volunteer Rescue. We have no animal control, Humane Society, or SPCA operating in our area leaving animals in dire straights.

BMAR is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty & abuse to all animals & livestock.

We currently only adopt to states and Canada where we have a network in place to monitor animals and help with problems.

BMAR backs it's dogs for life and will take back no matter how long and at any time if circumstance arise and you cannot keep your pet.
