My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Izzy is a sweet, shy girl who is searching for her new beginnings.

Izzy has started coming around in the shelter and has been showing us her adorable personality! She loves affection, and will happily roll around and headbutt you when she is receiving pets. We haven't seen this side of her quite yet, but we know that she absolutely loves playing with toys and sure keeps herself entertained. Izzy would do best in a quiet, adult-oriented home with no other pets due to her nervousness, so she can live stress-free and soak up all the attention that she deserves. She hopes to find someone who is patient and will let her come around at her pace. Once she is comfortable with someone, she rewards them with tons of affection and will seek out your attention.

If you can give Izzy the life that she is looking for, send us an application!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
