Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Coconut is a tiny dilute tortie with a soft grey coat, mixed-color toe beans, and striking bright yellow eyes. Still petite and growing, it’s hard to know how big she’ll be as an adult, but her personality is already larger than life. She is the most immediately outgoing of her siblings, confidently running up to new people without hesitation and purring loudly the whole time. Coconut truly needs to be around people and wants to be involved in everything you’re doing.
You’ll often find her curled up on your lap or arms, happily winding between your legs, fearlessly climbing the cat tree, leaping from perch to perch, or dragging around a toy mouse that’s nearly twice her size. She is especially proud of her fetch skills and loves retrieving a fluffy mouse toy, soaking up her foster family’s excitement every single time. Coconut enjoys cuddling under blankets and may wake you up by burrowing under your chin for enthusiastic pre-breakfast snuggles.
Coconut and her siblings are very affectionate with each other and with their foster family. Their days are spent playing hard, eating well, sleeping in cozy piles, and using the litter box perfectly every time. Her energy level is high and playful, around an 8 out of 10, but she plays so much with her siblings that it feels easy and well-balanced.
She is currently living in a two-bedroom apartment with her foster family, two resident cats, and a bearded dragon, and she’s thriving in a busy, loving environment. Due to her young age, she will need to adopted into a furever home with another young feline to keep her company!
If you’re ready for a confident, affectionate, people-loving kitten who will happily fill your home with play, purrs, and snuggles, Coconut is ready to meet you! - - - - - - - - - - - - - There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimates.
Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.
Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.
Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer
How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
