My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chibi is a big-eyed beauty with a story no kitten should ever have to tell. She came to us after being abandoned in an empty apartment, left to fend for herself far too young.

Despite everything she’s been through, Chibi’s spirit still shines. Her bright eyes are full of curiosity, her heart open and trusting, as if she’s chosen hope over fear. At just 3 months old, this little lady is already showing how strong and loving she can be.

Chibi deserves a brighter future—one filled with gentle hands, warm laps, and the unconditional love she was once denied. She’s ready to be cherished. All she needs is someone to give her that chance. 💕🐾

More about this shelter

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused, or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.

The Society is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.

Please visit our website AHSCares.org for additional information.
