My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Selma, Indiana
DOB: 04/01/2023

Winnie is a Great Dane with a heart as big as her size and a personality that shines as bright as her spirit.
She is a sweetheart through and through, with a deep love of cuddles and closeness. She's not an overwhelmingly Velcro dog but enjoys laying on the couch while you go about your daily tasks, staying nearby to keep you company.
She's a dream on a leash, walking beside you without pulling, making your daily strolls enjoyable. Winnie is a food enthusiast, highly motivated by treats, and knows her basic commands, though sometimes it takes a couple of reminders if there are no treats involved.
Winnie's is very sociable. She isn't shy around anyone and instantly warms up to new people, greeting them like long-lost friends. She's a friendly soul who spreads joy wherever she goes.
When it comes to play, Winnie enjoys the company of other dogs but can get a bit rambunctious at times. She's an independent and curious explorer who loves to venture beyond the yard, but she's always responsive and comes back when called.
You won't find chewed-up toys in Winnie's wake; she cherishes her ball and bone, keeping them intact and ready for play. Car rides are one of her favorite activities, and she's full of bursts of energy, followed by well-deserved naps.
Winnie is crate trained and doesn't cause any issues when you're at work. She may bark if someone drops off a package, but she settles down. At night, she may whimper for a little while in her crate, but nothing to worry about. While she hasn't been free-roaming unsupervised, there's no reason to believe she wouldn't learn fast and do well.
Around children, she's generally great but has a tendency to jump, so a little caution is advised. Winnie hasn't been around cats in her foster home, but her adaptable and friendly nature suggests potential to make friends with a feline.
In Winnie, you'll find a loving, curious, and energetic companion who's ready to share her heart with a family who appreciates her boundless affection and joyful spirit. She's a star waiting to shine in your life

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
