Margo Believe it or not, I am 11 years old. The interviewer lady (IL) told me I have been drinking from the Fountain of Youth because I do not look or act my age! She told me my coat is so luxurious and silky soft, like a much younger kitty. I lived with my owner my entire life, but on January 30, he decided to surrender me to HSHC. Wow! Listen to all the good things he had to say about me. I am a very affectionate girl, and I am comfortable being held by my owner. I am still very playful, and my favorite game is playing fetch with hair elastics. My family had a special chair for me to use as a scratching post, and I was easily redirected to my chair for nail care. I was fond of “roughhousing” with my owner. That was a good workout for me. I have been a gracious hostess to the newcomers to the house. I was comfortable having two other cats in the home, although I kept a wide berth from the grouchy one. I got along famously with the 17-year-old family member, and also with younger kids. So it beats me as to why I was sent to the HSHC. The staff decided to send me to a foster home to give me a break from the Cattery. Imagine how pleased I was when my foster mom (FM) sent an exemplary report card to the IL. My litterbox skills are perfect with no issues. I have a healthy appetite. I am gradually becoming more comfortable with my new family. I have terrific manners when meeting new people. I am generally outgoing and OK with being handled. Although there are no kids in this home, there is a dog whom I politely avoid. FM describes me as friendly, sweet-natured, and a bit shy. My foster family is charmed by my climbing into bed with them and sleeping on their pillows. FM thinks I am a gentle, calm cat. I have enjoyed climbing onto the cabinets and exploring the whole house from a high perch. If you like youthful looking Tortoiseshell cats, consider me a perfect candidate to move in with you. 2-18-26

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
