My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Ruby arrived:
Ruby was brought in by her previous owner on February 5, 2026.

Why Ruby is the one for you:
Meet Ruby - a true gem looking for her next setting! Ruby is paws-itively priceless: sweet, sparkly, and guaranteed to add some extra shine to your life. This good girl has a heart of gold (okay, ruby-red) and a personality that really rocks. She loves making new friends, collecting belly rubs like treasures, and believes every human was put on this earth to admire her-fair enough. Ruby is also an active girl who's always ready to go! Walks, playtime, zoomies in the yard-she's game for all of it. After she's had her fun and burned off some energy, she's more than happy to settle in for cuddles and well-earned naps. Best of both worlds? We think so. If you're searching for a loyal companion who can keep up with your adventures and still melt into your lap afterward, don't let this Ruby slip through your paws. Adopt her, and you'll quickly discover that diamonds aren't actually a dog's best friend... humans are.

At SDHS:
Ruby has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Ruby is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
