My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Claire

Claire is a beautiful hound / pointertype mix weighing about 76 pounds and estimated to be around a year old. While she has a tall, leggy frame, shes best described as large but not giant built more like a graceful, athletic hound than a bulky dog.

This sweet, fun-loving girl has a personality that makes people smile. Volunteers say shes like the lovable bloodhound from Lady and the Tramp always sniffing everything, with a soft, floppy mouth that seems to bounce along as she explores the world. Claire was so curious and enthusiastic during her photo shoot that she kept moving, making pictures a bit of a challenge (because there was just too much to see and smell!).

Despite her size, Claire does quite well on leash, especially considering how new so much of the world still is to her. She was a little unsure about stairs at first, but with gentle encouragement she figured them out. Shed likely never been on a couch before either once she realized it was okay, she climbed up and settled in, showing her sweet, affectionate side.

Claire is curious, gentle, and ready to learn a dog who will thrive with patient guidance, love, and plenty of opportunities to explore. Shes looking for a home where she can sniff, snooze, and be adored.

Our adoption process takes several steps and cannot be completed in one day. All of our volunteers work full time and assist the rescue in their spare time. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

* Applicants must be willing to make a ten plus year commitment to their new family member.

* Applicants must commit to daily exercise, walks, trips to the dog park or play in the back yard. A well exercised dog is a happy well behaved dog!

* Applicants living in a rental property must provide proof of pet policy from landlord.

* Applicants must provide a veterinarian reference and if there are existing dogs in the household. All pets must be spayed/neutered and current on all shots and heartworm medication.

*Please allow at least a 7-14 day adjustment period for your new dog. Rescue dogs go thru a lot of changes and need a few days to get used to their new surroundings and adjust. Adopting a dog should be a serious commitment, so please be willing to work out the kinks. Our dogs aren't perfect but with proper training and guidance they make awesome, loving pets.

*Our adoption fees vary based on the age and medical needs of the dogs.
