🖤🐾 Meet Rousey — Beauty, Brains, and a Heart That’s Still Unfolding 🐾🖤
Rousey is a 1–2 year old, 50-lb black and tan mixed breed girl (we’re guessing a little shepherd, maybe some rottie?) with striking looks and the sweetest, gentlest soul. She’s relatively new to Hopewell Animal Services, and while we’re still learning all about her, one thing is already clear: this girl is a good one.
Shelter life can be loud and overwhelming, especially for a young, sensitive dog like Rousey. She’s a bit timid right now, but every day she takes small, brave steps out of her shell. When she feels safe, she’ll come in for pets and quiet affection — and it’s incredibly rewarding to see her trust grow.
🐶 What We’re Seeing So Far:
✨ Sweet, gentle, and thoughtful
✨ Walks nicely on leash
✨ Enjoys the company of other dogs
✨ A friendly male dog really brought out her playful side
✨ Young, playful pup underneath that shy exterior
Rousey would thrive with a patient, kind adopter who will let her settle in at her own pace and show her that the world isn’t such a scary place. Meet-and-greets are always required to make sure she’s a good fit with any potential canine siblings.
If you’re looking for a dog who will blossom with love, reassurance, and time — Rousey might just be your perfect match. Come meet her at Hopewell Animal Services and help her write the next, happier chapter of her story. 💕🐕

More about this shelter
The City of Hopewell Animal Shelter is run by the Animal Control Officers. We fall under the Hopewell Police Department and train accordingly to serve the animals and the public of Hopewell. Our shelter is currently a small scale shelter with 28 dog kennels and 14 cat cages.
Our shelter is often full. We work hard to find our animals that are not claimed by an owner a new home or an approved rescue.
Most of our animals at our facility are animals that were found running loose that no one came to look for. We do often get animals in from owner surrenders where the previous owners can no longer care for them. At times we also seize animals and they will eventually need forever homes or rescue.
Come on down to the City of Hopewell and meet the wonderful Animal Control Officers and the Shelter staff that care for the animals on a daily basis.
