Hi! My name is Beignet and here is a bit more about me:
My Journey I came in as a stray in February with an injured paw. Thankfully, I received the care I needed and have completed my treatment. Now I’m safe, healing, and learning that indoor life can be full of comfort and kindness.
My Social Life Other cats ? I do well with other kitties and would enjoy a calm feline companion. Kids ? I especially love the company of gentle, respectful humans who understand that building trust takes a little patience. Dogs ? I haven’t shared much about dogs or young children yet, but a peaceful environment suits me best.
My Personality Gentle, mellow, and quietly affectionate. When I’m feeling lonely, I’ll let out my tiny “roar” (a sweet little meow) or trill to let you know I’d love some company. Playing with toys really brings out my confidence and helps me feel brave. The more comfortable I become, the more of my playful side you’ll see.
I Enjoy… Being near my humans Playing with kicker toys, wand toys, silvervine — I’m not picky! Watching the world from a cozy window spot Head pets and gentle strokes along my back (I give a very enthusiastic “elevator butt”!) I’m still learning that hands reaching toward me quickly don’t mean medicine time anymore. I’ve finished my treatment — I just need a little time to fully understand that.
I’m Not a Fan Of… Being scruffed (though I’m okay with being picked up gently) Sudden movements or quick approaches Because of my recent medical care, fast motions can startle me. Slow, calm interactions help me feel safe.
What Makes Me Special I have an adorable white patch on my back that makes me extra unique. But what truly makes me special is my sweet little voice — I’ll meow and trill when I miss you, just to let you know I’d love some pets. It’s my gentle way of staying connected.
My Perfect Home I would thrive in a quiet, patient home where I’m given time to build confidence at my own pace. I’ve only been with my foster for a few days and I’m already playing and exploring — that’s how quickly I blossom with kindness. I would love: A calm cat buddy A cozy sanctuary spot (a cat house, fort, or den) to retreat to when I need to recharge A window to watch the world go by Humans who move gently and speak softly With patience and reassurance, I’ll continue growing into a confident, affectionate companion who lets you know

More about this rescue
Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
