My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Merrin is a stunning girl with velvety soft fur and a rare blend of brown tabby and tortoiseshell coloring that makes her truly one of a kind. She was found alone on a college campus after winter break, wandering in search of food when the students had all left and the campus had gone quiet. Hungry and unsure, Merrin was thankfully rescued before the cold and isolation took a greater toll.

Understandably, Merrin is shy when first meeting new people. But once she feels safe, her true personality shines through—she becomes affectionate, gentle, and deeply appreciative of kindness. She shows her gratitude in quiet ways: soft head bumps, leaning into pets, and staying close to the people she trusts.

Merrin would thrive in a peaceful home without small children, where she can settle in at her own pace and feel secure. She’s the perfect companion for someone who understands that love can take time—and who will treasure the special bond that comes from earning the trust of a shy, grateful soul.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our 9LCR cats are not routinely tested for FIV and FeLV for various reasons, one being to keep the costs and hence the adoption fee affordable. This decision is based on studies that have found that only about 4% of cats are actually infected. The funds for testing are better utilized for our spay and neuter efforts of owned and community cats in order to save the most cats. However, testing can be performed upon request and need to be covered by the person interested in adopting.
9 Lives Cats have been spayed or neutered and have updated vaccinations. 9 Lives is run entirely on volunteers. Please give us 2-7 days to process your application. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us! Please fill out our application form found here: t.ly/38VV
Adoption fee is $70.00.

More about this rescue

We started 9 Lives Cat Rescue to find homes for cats that are homeless or need to be relocated.
We are a no-kill, non-profit group. Our cats live in foster homes until they are adopted. We spay & neuter every cat before they are adopted.
We fully support our local no-kill feral cat group who practices TNR (Trap, Neuter & Return).
