My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Barkley – Your New Best Friend in a 30-lb Package! 🐾
Barkley is a 1-year-old, boy who came to us after losing his owner. Despite such a big life change, this sweet boy has settled in beautifully and is now ready for a fresh start with a loving family. Friendly, gentle, and full of puppy charm, Barkley is already proving to be an absolute gem. 💙

Barkley is a happy, social pup who loves people and enjoys being close to his humans—especially if snuggling is involved! He’s doing great with house training (with only a few weather-related accidents during the extreme cold) and is crate trained, sleeping soundly through the night.

He has that adorable puppy energy and enthusiasm for life, which sometimes shows up as jumping for attention—but he’s learning and responds well to gentle correction. Barkley willingly gives up toys, food, and bones, making him an easygoing and polite companion.

Barkley’s Favorites:
🐶 Soft, crinkly toys (his goofy stuffy is a hit!)
📺 Watching Lucky Dog or any show with dogs
🤍 Snuggling with humans to stay warm
👀 Admiring himself in reflections (because he is pretty cute!)

He would do well in just about any type of home or family. Barkley is sweet, goofy, affectionate, and ready to bring joy, laughs, and lots of love to his forever home.

Good boy status: confirmed. ✔️

Additional adoption info

Each pet that is available for adoption is in a foster home for a minimum of 2 weeks after being rescued. This allows the animal to decompress and show their true personality, which in turn helps us find their best match.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Visit https://operationfreedomride.com/ and click "available pets" to see who is available for adoption.

Periodically we have adoption events around the greater Rochester, NY area; however, we largely rely on the application process to best match people/families with available pets and then set-up a meet and greet to make sure it's a great match before finalizing the adoption.
