My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Esme, a gorgeous calico with a coat that looks like it was designed by an artist who refused to choose just one color. With that patchwork beauty and a little spark of sass, Esme has main character energy in the sweetest way.

Right now, Esme is shy upon arrival and still settling in. New places can be a lot, so she may prefer to observe from a cozy spot at first, taking her time to decide when it feels safe to come closer. The best way to win her over is the gentle approach: quiet voices, slow movements, and letting Esme choose the pace. With a little patience, her confidence will grow and that lovely personality will start peeking out more every day.

And the name? Esme is one of those names that sounds like it belongs on a book cover or a movie poster. Elegant, a little mysterious, and definitely memorable, which fits her perfectly.

If you are looking for a one of a kind companion with a stunning coat and a soft heart that just needs a moment to feel at home, come meet Esme and see if you are the lucky one who gets to help this calico star shine.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1868, The SF SPCA is a community-supported nonprofit dedicated to saving, protecting and caring for cats and dogs. We do this through immediate care of animals that are homeless, ill or in need of an advocate, but we also work to educate the community, reduce the number of unwanted kittens and puppies through spaying/neutering, and improve the quality of life for animals and their companions.
