Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Mister & Dixie – a bonded pair ready to steal your heart!
Mister (5 years old) and Dixie (3 years old) are a silly, sweet, and cuddly duo searching for their forever home together. These two balance each other perfectly and bring a wonderful mix of affection, playfulness, and calm companionship.
Mister is a carefree, affectionate lovebug who seems to run on pure joy. He’s the kind of cat who never stops purring and believes his job is to be near his people at all times. Whether he’s following you from room to room, rubbing his head on your legs (or face!), or chirping lovingly to get your attention, Mister lives to love. He has adorable bursts of zoomies, enjoys chasing toys and climbing cat trees, and is always gentle and considerate when playing. His favorite pastime? Relaxing beside his people while they read or watch TV.
Dixie is a beautiful, stripey girl with a sweet and curious nature. She may be a little reserved at first, but she warms up quickly and turns into a total snugglebug. Once comfortable, she loves curling up on the couch—or right in your lap—even if that means politely (or not so politely) nudging Mister aside. Playtime is the key to Dixie’s heart; she adores chasing toys and interacting with her people. After a good play session, she’s happiest drifting off to sleep next to you.
Together, Mister and Dixie have a mild to moderate energy level, happily switching between playful moments and cozy cuddle sessions. They currently live in a home with four people, have their own room, and enjoy roaming the house when everyone is home.
Their ideal home is a calm, low-energy environment filled with love, patience, and plenty of quality time with their humans. They truly thrive on companionship and want to be where their people are.
Mister and Dixie have had some medical concerns in the past that are currently well managed. As with many pets, stress from change may cause some issues to reappear temporarily, so their future family should be patient and understanding as they settle in.
Mister is FIV+, but that doesn’t mean he can’t live a long, normal, and healthy life! Cats with FIV commonly have average lifespans. Because FIV is spread only through deep bite wounds, FIV positive cats are able to live with FIV negative cats in stable social environments. You can read more about FIV here: https://tinyurl.com/58sf9wtj
If you’re looking for a loving, entertaining, and deeply affectionate pair to share your days and your couch, Mister and Dixie might just be your perfect match. - - - - - - - - - There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimates.
Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.
Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.
Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer
How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
