Kalahari is a 6-year-old cuddly sweetheart looking for her forever home. She is a true people person who loves simply being near her humans. Whether you are working, relaxing on the couch, or moving about your day, she is happiest keeping you company. She does not demand constant attention, but she absolutely enjoys a good cuddle and gentle pets whenever they are offered. She is not much of a talker and instead expresses herself with the occasional soft hum.
Her energy level is low to medium. She enjoys relaxing and observing her surroundings, making her a calm and comforting presence in the home.
Kalahari is currently living with three adults, one dog, and one cat. She is not bothered by other pets and adapts well to a shared household.
Her ideal home is one where she can receive daily human attention and companionship. She would thrive in just about any environment where she can be part of the family.
Kalahari has a dental appointment scheduled for March 25th. She will be fully up to date on her vetting at that time and ready for adoption after her appointment.

Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.

Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
