Animal Information: Piper is a pint size 2-year-old, 40-pound, female German Shepherd mix with the sweetest brown eyes. She was at risk at the Stanislaus shelter, and after seeing her notes and videos we knew we had to save her. According to staff, Piper is a "calm and friendly girl. She warms up quickly and enjoys gentle pets. She has good leash manners." Piper greets other dogs politely and shows patience/tolerance with the most pushy pet companions out in the shelter yard. We will share more after she has settled in to her foster home.
Piper is crate trained and potty trained, and loves her crate as her safe place. She will occasionally bark when someone knocks at the door, but is otherwise not vocal. She walks well on leash, though she does get a little nervous sometimes and looks to her person, but for the most part she's eager to please in all areas. She has learned sit, down, heel, and here, while in foster care–here is less reliable when she's outside having fun. Overall, Piper is a sweet shy girl who has lots of love to give a patient family willing to give her a little time to adjust.
