My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rosie - small dog, big character.

Rosie is a charming Chihuahua mix who firmly believes that attention is a renewable resource and would like all of it, please and thank you. She adores her people, soaks up affection like sunshine, and will happily be your shadow once she knows she's safe.

She's tolerant of other dogs and would be open to meeting a canine friend with proper introductions - polite hellos, not instant BFF chaos. Rosie enjoys long, sniff-heavy walks where every blade of grass tells a story, followed by her favorite pastime: burrowing into a luxuriously-curated blanket nest like a contented potato.

If you're looking for a sweet companion who's equal parts curious explorer and professional cuddler, Rosie is ready to claim a spot in your heart...and your blankets.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1941 by the third female graduate from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, SAVE is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit animal shelter dedicated to protecting the health and welfare of homeless companion animals in the greater Princeton area and beyond. Through six core programs of Rescue, Shelter, Health and Welfare, Spay/Neuter, Foster and Adoption.

The SAVE shelter facility has the capacity to house upwards of 100 animals at a time (approximately 75 cats and 25 dogs). The shelter exceeds no-kill benchmark standards and ensures that adoptable animals facing adversity are given a lifeline, a chance to flourish, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
