My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gumdrop: Your Perfect Companion
Gumdrop is a heartwarming 10-month-old, 6-pound Maltese mix with a courageous story and a loving nature. Her journey has been one of resilience and hope, and now she's ready to find a forever home where she can share her love and joy.
A Tale of Recovery
When Gumdrop first arrived at the shelter, she was in a dire state. Severely matted fur required her to be sedated at the veterinary clinic, and the process left her with several large open wounds. Scared and in poor condition, she faced an uphill battle to recovery. But with care and affection, Gumdrop has blossomed into a healthy and happy pup.
Health and Wellness
Gumdrop is now spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative, ensuring she's in perfect health and ready for adoption. Her recovery is a testament to her strong spirit and the loving care she received.
Personality and Behavior
Gumdrop is a classic "velcro dog," meaning she loves to be close to her person at all times. She thrives on affection and prefers to be held, making her the perfect lap dog for someone seeking a constant companion.
Crate and Leash Trained: Gumdrop is comfortable in a crate and walks well on a leash.
Great Traveler: She enjoys car rides, making her an excellent travel buddy.
House-trained: Gumdrop is housebroken and will also use pads if she can’t go outside.
Playful and Social
Gumdrop has a playful spirit and gets along well with other small dogs. She loves to engage in fun activities and playtime, adding joy and laughter to any household.
Special Considerations
While Gumdrop is generally sweet and friendly, she can be easily scared due to her past experiences. She may become nippy if frightened, so a home without small children would be ideal to ensure a calm and safe environment for her.
Ready for a Forever Home
Gumdrop is now ready to be the loving, loyal companion she was always meant to be. Her ideal home would be one where she can be cherished and where her affectionate, gentle nature can truly shine. If you're looking for a devoted and loving friend, Gumdrop is eager to meet you and become a cherished member of your family.

More about this rescue

BMAR is a No-Kill facility: a place of safety for healthy adoptable animals, a home for the homeless, a haven for the mistreated, neglected, or abused animals of Sabine & surrounding counties. BMAR also runs a sanctuary for those deemed unadoptible due to medical and behavior issues.

100% Volunteer Rescue. We have no animal control, Humane Society, or SPCA operating in our area leaving animals in dire straights.

BMAR is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty & abuse to all animals & livestock.

We currently only adopt to states and Canada where we have a network in place to monitor animals and help with problems.

BMAR backs it's dogs for life and will take back no matter how long and at any time if circumstance arise and you cannot keep your pet.
