My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Baby Sasha’s life began with challenges no puppy should ever face. At just a few weeks old she was abandoned at a Northern California shelter with severe injuries to both eyes. The damage was painful and at the time believed to have left her completely blind. When we were alerted to her situation one of our incredible volunteers immediately stepped in and made the long trip to bring her to safety at our rescue.

Since Sasha was so young and fragile, surgery wasn’t an option when she first came in. Instead she received intensive medical treatment hoping to keep her comfortable. Then something truly amazing happened... Slowly, week by week, her eyes began to heal! Not only did she avoid enucleation, but this little fighter surprised everyone by retaining a small amount of vision!! While she likely sees shadows and light rather than details, this has always been her normal, and she navigates the world with confidence and determination that feels nothing short of remarkable.

And here’s the thing about Baby Sasha: she does not see herself as fragile. She’s bold, joyful, and completely unapologetic about taking up space. She loves other dogs and has a knack for charming even the most serious senior pups into playtime. Because of her size and limited vision, she spends her days alongside our senior and special-needs dogs, where she’s learned patience, boundaries, and how to hold her own.

Sasha adores toys, especially the squeaky kind, lives for treat time, and considers being held the highest honor of all. There’s nothing she loves more than curling up in your arms and drifting off to sleep, fully trusting that she’s safe.

While we can’t know every detail of her past, it’s likely Sasha’s injuries were caused by rough interactions with littermates that went untreated. What matters now is that she’s thriving and ready for a future that looks nothing like her beginning! Sasha will do best in a home with another dog, plenty of enrichment, and a person who’s around often and excited to guide a young, special-needs pup through life. She just needs patience, consistency, and love.

Baby Sasha is resilient, affectionate, endlessly lovable, and proof that even the smallest dogs can have the biggest hearts. If you’re ready for a pup who will trust you completely and love you fiercely, she may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for. Interested in Baby Sasha? Please inquire today!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
