Meet Cassie – Our Snow Princess with the Softest Heart
We journey back to our mission work on the Kitty Trail in Piqua… a 7-mile bike trail where far too many cats are discarded like they never mattered.
And then there was Cassie.
This breathtaking calico appeared in the snow, barely able to walk. Why? Because her sweet, delicate toe beans had never felt the sting of winter before. She wasn’t feral. She wasn’t seasoned for survival. She had never known the cold bite of snow beneath her feet.
Someone placed her there. Left her. No winter coat. No protection. No chance.
She was trying to survive in a world she was never prepared for.
One of our incredible volunteers scooped her up and brought her into the warmth of her garage. And that’s when the truth showed itself — Cassie is a companion cat through and through. She didn’t hide. She didn’t hiss. She melted.
Fully vetted and safe now, Cassie has proven exactly who she is. She laid on the couch with the volunteer’s cats, peacefully watching TV as if she’d always belonged there. She is gentle, affectionate, and just wants to be near her people.
Cassie is FIV positive — and before that scares you away, please take a moment to learn about it. FIV+ cats can live long, healthy, completely normal lives. They live harmoniously with other cats (as she already has), and the virus is only transmitted through deep bite wounds — not sharing bowls, beds, or snuggles.
What Cassie needs isn’t fear.
She needs a home that understands that her diagnosis does not define her.
She needs a couch.
A warm lap.
A soft blanket.
And someone who will promise her that snow will never hurt her feet again.
Cassie survived abandonment. Now she’s ready to be cherished.
Will you be the one who shows her that home is forever this time? ❤️
