My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Carbon!

This young and energetic fella is seeking someone to match his high energy and go go go attitude! He cant wait to find someone to work his body and mind and give him a great new life with lots of adventure and memories.

Carbon here is the definition of enthusiastic, and offers the world so much joy and laughter, and will make someone thrilled with his smarts and good looks. This guy is working really hard on fine tuning his manners and skills, and is very motivated by praise and yummy snacks. He hasn't quite nailed the polite leash skills yet, but paired with a harness, positive reinforcement and patience, he's improving bit by bit!

Carbon is also working hard on mastering the polite introductions to other dogs, and can be a bit vocal and excitable seeing other pets behind his fence or out on walks. He is getting the idea about calm and collected 'hellos' paired with rewards and praise. With a dedicated owner, he's going to be such a smart fella!

This boy has previously lived with kids, and does really enjoy them, but can get a bit hyped up by them and forgets his manners a bit. He would likely do well with older kids in the home, but wouldn't mind being the only child, human or canine, and would relish in the attention! He is not suitable for cats however as he does like to chase them and can cause them stress.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
