Danny came into rescue as an owner surrender. His owner could no longer take care of him. Danny is very small (like pocketbook puppy small) so he will need to be watched when outside so he doesn't escape thru a small hole in a fenced yard or get picked up by a bird of prey or other predator. He is under 5 pounds so we don't recommend rough and tumble children who may hurt him accidentally or toddlers who don't understand to be careful and gentle with him. He also runs the risk of being stepped on due to his size so please keep his safety in mind if you are considering adopting him. Danny is very sweet and loving. He will definitely want to be next to his person cuddled up in a warm blanket (he will burrow himself under one if given the chance). He is the perfect size for anyone who needs a smaller dog for a traveling companion or who may have a difficult time controlling or handling larger dogs. Danny has been using pee pads here and is used to a crate. We can't guarantee that he is fully housebroken. Danny is good with older kids, smaller dogs and would probable be fine with cats too since most are bigger than him and could put him in his place. Danny is a typical chihuahua and will "shake" when he is cold or nervous. He can also be vocal if something upsets him or if he wants to alert you about something. Mostly, he just wants to be spoiled and be someone's baby boy!
Danny saw the vet on 2/10/26 and was found to have no current health issues. It does appear that Danny may have lacked some important nutrition early on which may have affected his leg bones as they sometimes appear almost like he had rickets somewhere along the way. They will bow out a bit but it is not something that seems to affect him or cause him pain and it does seem to be something that occurred earlier in his life and it was just how his legs grew. The vet did not mention any issue but we just wanted to note that they do look kindof odd at times (could also be just how he is standing at the time) and to make any potential adopter aware in case they also notice awkward type angles at times. He tested negative for heartworms and has been started on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention. He tested positive on his fecal for hookworms and has been given a Drontal to treat the hooks. He may require a follow up in 3 weeks. Danny received his year rabies and DA2PP vaccinations. Danny is a tiny boy and weighed only 4.74 pounds as of 2/10/26.
If interested in giving Danny his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Danny's adoption fee will be $400 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Danny based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.

More about this rescue
We are a small rescue started in September 2004. To date, we have adopted out over 1,000 dogs and cats who may not have had a second chance. We rescue the majority of our pets from kill shelters and have them thoroughly vetted prior to going to their new homes. All of our pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm checked(dogs) and dewormed. We also microchip our dogs so that they can always find their way home. Big and small, we work to rehome them all. We are always in need of donations so if you can help us to help our pets, please contact us! The more people who get involved, the more pets that we can save! We look forward to hearing from you and making that "forever match"!
