My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bear the SWEETHEART!!

Estimated Birthday: 11/3/25
Estimated Size: Medium to Large

Bear is the male runt from a litter of 8. He currently weighs 18 lbs. He is very sweet and loving! His mama babied him a little more than the others. As a result, he is very loving but also seems to be very humble. He shows demure confidence in meeting new people and visiting new environments. He is a snuggle bug, and loves to be babied!

He is a very very sweet boy. Most of the time quiet and bashful, but has already began finding his voice. Loves to be held and petted more than anything, but also more than happy to be active and playing games. LOVES playing in the water. Absolute cuddle bug and he is so precious. (He was mommas boy when they were tiny pups).

Bear is in need of a foster home ASAP!! You provide the love, we will continue to provide food, vet care, preventative meds, and supplies.

All American Mix. His mama appears to be a Boxer mix. We think they may potentially have some pitbull terrier, lab, hound. Bear is colored more like a Border Collie, and has soft fuzzy hair.

We try to limit our travel time for home visits to a two-hour driving range (about 75 miles) from Morganton, NC.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Please view our animals and feel free to e-mail us with questions! We try and place our animals with families who would be a good mesh so that both the animal and the family will have a wonderful experience. You can visit our website to complete an application and e-fax it to us or mail it or e-mail it back. We will check references and set up a home visit once the animal is identified. The adoption fee is $100 - seniors always receive a 25% reduction in adoption fee as does a veteran or military person. Both discounts may be combined.

Go meet their pets

We set up "play dates" and meet and greets based on approved applications. Check out our facebook page (facebook.com/abetterlifeanimalrescue) or email us (abetterlifear@gmail.com) to find out what local events we will be attending!

More about this rescue

A Better Life Animal Rescue, Inc. is a no-kill foster home-based rescue organization located in Burke County, North Carolina. We do not operate an animal shelter. We rely on volunteer foster families to provide temporary care for rescued dogs and cats until they can either be matched with loving, responsible, permanent adoptive families or until lost pets can be reunited with their own loving families. Our mission is to reduce pet overpopulation and to save dogs and cats whose lives are in jeopardy because of neglect, mistreatment, illness, injury or ignorance. We do this by reporting animal neglect, abuse, mistreatment or cruelty to proper authorities; rescuing pets that are living under unhealthy or unsafe conditions or are being held by activities that kill animals considered to be unadoptable; providing dedicated, loving, temporary foster care for rescued animals; arranging for professional veterninary care for sick or injured animals and for spay/neuter procedures; matching rescued pets with suitable adoptive families; promoting a 100% spay/neuter program; and sponsoring educational programs that focus on animal overpopulation and proper care for pets. Please check our pages for stories and events. And of course, please check all our animals that need homes.
