Meet Roxie ACCT-A-243225! Sweeter than sugar and cuter than a button, Roxie is 10 years young and looking for love! This beautiful medium-sized mixed breed was surrendered to ACCT Philly on February 15th when her owner was no longer able to manage her chronic skin issues. Friendly, gentle, loving, and submissive, Roxie has already stolen numerous hearts at the shelter and is sure to steal yours too.
In her last home Roxie was a much-loved family member, and her family had nothing but wonderful things to say about their pup! Roxie lived with young children and a cat in her previous home, and got along very well with both. Her owners also noted that she gets along well with other dogs. She is already housebroken and crate trained. Roxie does have some skin and ear issues, which are expected to improve with proper vet care and treatment.
Roxie's last family found her as a stray so her precise age is unknown, but we think she's around 10 years old. While she's in her golden years, Roxie still has endless love to give.

On 2/15 staff noted: "Owner came in looking to surrender his dog due to persistent skin issues. Vet has given him some medication for it but didn't resolve. Owner said her skin used to be totally fine but now since he moved to a new residence he thinks she is allergic to something there; has a ton of dander and has an odor, skin is now irritated and flaky. I did offer vet care through help desk but owner declined, said he just cannot handle it anymore."

Behavior:
On 2/17 behavior evaluation: "Kennel Presentation: laying on the bed when i approached. Came up to the front of the kennel with soft eyes, ears to the side and loose/wiggly body.
Leash Skills: easy to leash and walked on a loose leash through the kennel. Pulled mildly towards a grassy area to go to the bathroom. Possibly house trained.
Sociability: allowed all handling, leaning into pets. Tail was mid loose and wagging, eyes soft with ears to the side.
Play: n/a
Dog Interaction: Met muffin. Through the fence loose body even when muffin barred teeth Roxie moved away from the fence. They paralleled walked in the parking lot about 3 feet apart. Muffin was able to go up and sniff Roxie. Later Roxie met Kash Bonez, Kash was stiff and began to lip curl then snapped at Roxie who snapped back at him.
Return to Kennel: no issues returning to kennel and unleashing.
Color Level: green”
On 2/17 staff noted: "Was facing the other side of the kennel when I walked up and I started calling her, clapping and knocking on the kennel. She remained on the other side watching other people walk by. She eventually turned around and saw me and ran up. When we got into the meet and greet room she didn't react at all to the squeaky toys or the potential adopter calling her over. Seems to have some trouble hearing."
On 2/17 staff noted: "Roxie came up to me with a super wiggly and hunched body. She gave me some play bows and went straight for face kisses. Allowed all over handling and appreciated extra butt scritches. A very sweet and tolerant girl who wanted nothing more than to be in your lap! Her body remained relaxed, wiggly, and playful. She would love nothing more than a good cuddle sesh after some playtime zoomies."
On 2/16 staff noted: "I happened to stop by the exam room, where Roxie was having her skin and ears looked at. Roxie was so wiggly and sweet, very submissive and pancaked on the floor but tail wagging hard when I entered. Allowed all petting, leaned up against me. Literally the sweetest girl."
On 2/16 staff noted: "Extremely friendly and sweet to everyone in the room. Seeks out attention with loose body and wagging tail. Play bows and lays down on the floor when approaching people. Allowed full exam and treatments."
On 2/15 staff noted: "Sooooooo sweet and gentle! Came right up to me with big tail wags, sank to the floor submissively while still wagging, and army crawled forward to solicit pets. Allowed petting and handling all over. Sat for treat."
