My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Maya Papaya!

Maya Papaya came to us as a stray with limited history, but we've learned she previously lived with adults and other dogs. She is described as very friendly and outgoing with new people, tolerant with children, and playful and social with other dogs. Maya is a high-energy girl who loves being around her people - she's loyal, affectionate, and happiest when she's part of the action. She's housetrained, enjoys playing fetch, knows "sit," and isn't shy about asking for hugs!

My Ideal Home

Maya Papaya would thrive in an active home that can match her energy and provide continued training. She can become very excited, jump up for attention, and be mouthy when overstimulated, so she'll benefit from adopters committed to reinforcing basic manners and impulse control using positive, reward-based training. She is strong on leash and may pull to greet people or other dogs, so an adopter comfortable handling a strong, enthusiastic dog is important. Long walks, puzzle toys, fetch sessions, and consistent structure will help her channel her energy in positive ways.

Good with Kids?

Recommended for homes with children over 5 years old. While Maya has been described as tolerant with children, her jumping and mouthiness when excited could accidentally knock over or overwhelm very young kids.

Good with Other Pets?

Maya previously lived with other dogs and has been described as playful and social with them. She ignores dogs during assessment but may pull in excitement to greet them on walks. With proper introductions and management, she may do well with a compatible canine companion. She has been described as tolerant when seeing cats.

Overall Health

Healthy overall at this time with some dental that staff will address when you meet her

Behavior Determination

Level 2 - Maya Papaya is a social, affectionate, high-energy dog who will benefit from continued work on impulse control, reducing mouthiness, and leash manners. She is best suited for adopters prepared to provide structure, enrichment, and positive reinforcement training.

Other Fun Facts

Maya loves to play fetch, knows "sit," and enjoys spending most of her time wherever her people are. She's food motivated, not picky with treats, and greets life with full-body wiggles. If you're looking for a fun, loyal companion who will shower you with love, Maya Papaya is ready to meet you!
