My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It has come to my attention that I am, in fact, a mountain. Not physically (at leats according to you, in my head I am a big ole pup) But spiritually. Hi. I’m Pike from the Mountain Litter, and much like my namesake, I am majestic, gorgeous at sunset, and easy to fall in love with and wonder why you didn't choose to commit sooner. I am sweet. Like “grandma keeps butterscotch candies in her purse” sweet. I am calm. Like “Saturday morning coffee and no plans” calm. And yes, I am playful. Like “I will absolutely zoom in a perfectly executed circle and then immediately flop over for belly rubs” playful. Balance is important. I contain multitudes. I’m the kind of dog who grows into your routines quietly. The one who rests his head on your leg. The one who plays kindly. The one who feels steady.

I am a 10-week-old, 5-pound male Pyr mix you’re currently staring at and pretending you’re “just looking.” I came into rescue with my two siblings after we found ourselves in the shelter. Turns out some of my family was still out there doing independent wilderness tours — including my mama, Sierra — but PPFT said “absolutely not” and scooped them up too when they found out. But let’s refocus. Because you’re not reading this for them. You’re reading this because I am five pounds of fluffy perfection and you are already emotionally compromised.

How do I get along with other dogs? I am what professionals would call “enthusiastically social.” What that means in regular language is: I would like to play. Immediately. With everyone. All the time. I hop. I bounce. I spring into the air like a tiny, fluffy gazelle. How do I do with cats? Ah yes. The mysterious house panther. There is a cat in the home who has chosen a lifestyle of strategic avoidance. Very exclusive. Very elusive. Very “you cannot sit with us.” Given that I am five pounds of fluff who just wants to play with literally anything that moves, I suspect I would be… curious and try to become besties with them. Have I been around kids? Yes. Ages 8 and 11. Prime human puppy ages. And let me just say… I am a fan. I am drawn to them. I want the pets. I want the attention. I want to be included in whatever very important backyard mission is happening. I do not discriminate — if you have hands and you are willing to use them for scratches, we are now best friends. I’m sweet with them. I soak up the love. I will absolutely position myself strategically for maximum petting efficiency.

Energy level? A solid 5. Which means I am not scaling Mount Everest before breakfast… but I am also not a decorative throw pillow. I enjoy a good play session. I will hop. I will bounce. I will enthusiastically participate in yard activities. And then? I will absolutely clock out and nap like I just completed a full work shift. Adventure-seeker or homebody? I’m the kind of guy who’s up for plans… and also up for canceling those plans if there’s a comfy lap involved afterward. Balance. We love balance. Overall temperament? I am what you’d call a well-rounded gentleman. I enjoy a good round of hopping around like a tiny woodland creature who just discovered gravity. I’ll wrestle. I’ll bounce. I’ll invite everyone to join my extremely important game of “notice me.” And then? I crash.

Where would I thrive best? I am currently five pounds. Adorable. Portable. Deceptively tiny. However. I am a Great Pyrenees mix. Translation: this is not my final form. I am going to be big. Majestic. Fluffy. Possibly capable of casting a shadow. So while I could technically live somewhere without a yard, a securely fenced yard is highly preferable.Could I do regular leash walks? Sure — if my humans are committed. But a fenced yard makes life easier for everyone, especially once I upgrade from “tiny hopping marshmallow” to “substantial floof with opinions.” Plan for the dog I will become. Not just the five-pound heartthrob I am today. I am a small, fluffy gentleman in training. So when we talk about what my new family needs to be ready for, let’s frame this properly. Potty training? Yes. I will need guidance. Consistency. A schedule. Puppy proofing? Absolutely. If you leave your AirPods on the coffee table, that feels like a personal invitation. Socialization? Very important. I am sweet, calm, and playful — but I am also a Pyrenees mix. That means I will grow into a big, thoughtful, independent mountain man. Expose me to new people, new places, new experiences so I can mature into the confident, well-rounded legend I’m meant to be. Training? Yes. Kindly. Patiently. Consistently. I’m smart. I’m willing. I just need humans who understand that good dogs aren’t magically born — they’re guided. Raise me well, and I will be loyal, steady, affectionate, and that perfect blend of playful and calm that makes people say, “Wow, he’s such a good dog.”

I am the kind of dog who will follow you around quietly. The one who leans into pets. The one who plays hard for ten minutes and then melts into your lap like, “Yes. This is the life I deserve.” So yes — you should absolutely adopt me. Now here’s the part where we discuss effort. You cannot simply stare at my face and hope I teleport into your living room. That is not how this works. You need to fill out the adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app. So the rescue can send it to my foster family and they can approve you as worthy of my magnificence. And then you have to come pick me up in Owasso, OK. I know. A journey. A pilgrimage. A quest for greatness. But think of it this way: legends are not delivered. They are claimed.

Fill out the app. Make it official. Come get your mountain man....err puppy.

I’ll be waiting. 🏔️
