My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cumin 🌶️ — the spice you didn’t think you needed, but now somehow can’t imagine living without.

Cumin is that warm, bold background flavor that quietly takes over the whole dish. You didn’t order extra personality, but surprise — here he is, front and center, insisting on being involved in everything you do. Cooking? He’s supervising. Sitting? He’s participating. Existing as a human? Congratulations, you’ve acquired a shadow. Cumin doesn’t just add flavor to your life — he becomes the flavor. And honestly? Your routine could use a little seasoning.

Meet Cumin — a 6-week-old, 9-lb male Pyr/Lab mix (based on mama Rosemary’s looks), and already proof that genetics are more of a suggestion than a rule. As for dad? That remains a mystery. Our current working theory is that he was not only extremely handsome but also roughly the size of a small pony. Based on the sheer ambition of these puppies and the math not mathing the way we expected, we’re assuming Dad brought something extra to the table. What exactly? That changes daily. Your household will soon be running a full-time Breed Guessing Bracket, complete with side bets, debates, and at least one person Googling “what breed does he look like.” Mama Rosemary weighs about 72 lbs, so we’re guessing Cumin will land somewhere in the 60–70ish lb range. Or maybe not. We could be spot on. We could be wildly incorrect. Either way, congratulations — you’ve signed up for a lifelong journey of guessing his ancestry, predicting his adult weight, and confidently announcing both… only to be humbled later. Cumin came to us the best way possible: born safely in foster care after his mom was rescued from the urgent list while heavily pregnant. He has known nothing but love, warmth, full bellies, and people who adore him since literally day one. And it shows. He’s a total people dog — playful, affectionate, and already convinced that humans exist primarily for companionship and entertainment.

Cumin’s social skills can be summarized as “zero fear, maximum enthusiasm.” When it comes to other dogs, he is all in. His siblings? Best friends. Ride or die. Stranger danger does not exist in his vocabulary — if you have a heartbeat and fur (or even if you don’t), congratulations, you are now part of his inner circle. Cats remain a mystery because he hasn’t met one yet, but based on current data, we fully expect him to assume they are either: new friends, or oddly shaped dogs who simply haven’t accepted his invitation to play yet. And kids? Once the teething phase passes and he’s no longer experimenting with the concept of “mouth first, questions later,” Cumin is going to be that dog. The kind who happily trails behind an active kid, joins every game without being asked, and then curls up nearby like a fuzzy, loyal sidekick when playtime winds down. He’s gentle at heart, deeply people-focused, and clearly built to bond hard with his humans — big and small. Basically, Cumin has the soul of a best friend.

Cumin’s personality is best described as big feelings in a little fluffy body. He plays hard because he loves hard. Tug toys are his absolute joy, chew toys are his comfort items, and yes — he’s vocal, but in that I am having the BEST time and need everyone to know kind of way. He’s the type of puppy who gets so excited about people that his brain briefly forgets how to contain itself. Not because he’s wild at heart… but because he genuinely, deeply wants to play with you. Cumin is a true people dog. He wants connection, interaction, and shared joy so badly that sometimes his enthusiasm spills over. Once he’s had his fill of playtime and worked through those big puppy feelings, he settles beautifully. Then he’s all soft snuggles and content sighs, perfectly happy to be held and loved — he just needs to get the wiggles out first. His energy sits around an 8 out of 10 right now — enthusiastic, joyful, and busy, but balanced by the fact that he sleeps hard. When Cumin crashes, he fully crashes, like a puppy who gave the day everything he had and is completely at peace about it.

Your mission — should you choose to accept it — is to raise Cumin into a polite, well-adjusted, emotionally secure canine citizen. Cumin is currently operating on pure enthusiasm and vibes. Potty training? That’s you, bestie. Cumin did not come preloaded with bathroom etiquette. Socialization? Also you. Cumin is brave, confident, and wildly optimistic about the world, but he still needs to meet everything: people of all shapes and sizes, friendly dogs, new environments, strange sounds, and objects that absolutely should not be suspicious but somehow are — like trash cans, vacuums, and that one weird shadow. The goal is to help him grow into a dog who greets new experiences with curiosity instead of chaos. Training? Yes. All yours. Cumin is not studying for obedience school in his spare time. He is a blank notebook. A fluffy sponge. A puppy with a big heart and a developing brain who needs guidance, structure, and gentle reminders that self-control is a skill, not a betrayal of his personality.

If you’ve made it this far and aren’t already in love with Cumin, please reread everything because this puppy is delightful. He’s affectionate, people-obsessed, playful in the best way, and comes with just enough spice to keep life interesting. If you think you might be the lucky human chosen to raise this sweet, wiggly boy, you’ll need to fill out an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can send it over to his foster family. Important logistical fine print: Cumin must be picked up in Broken Arrow, and no, he cannot go home until after February 24th. We know. Waiting is hard. Cumin agrees. But good things come to those who wait.
