My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Holler. I’ve been through a lot in my few months of life. I was first brought to another shelter and placed as a barn cat because I was very spicy. I was later returned, and then ended up at Coconino Humane. All of those changes were a lot for such a young kitten.

When I arrived here, I was hissing, growling, and smacking at everyone because I was traumatized from being given medications. Then I went to a foster home - and by the very next day, I was letting my foster pet me! Since then, I’ve learned that people aren’t so bad, and I actually enjoy being pet. I’m a total purring machine now.

My foster says I may not be a lap cat or big cuddler, but I love to play with toys and I adore other cats. I even did well with her calm dog! If your cat needs a friend, I might be perfect for the job. I’m housetrained and use both regular and top-entry litterboxes. I eat my dry food well and love wet food, Churus, and Greenie dental treats.

Because I was born feral and have been through so many transitions, I still need time to grow into a confident house cat. I need to be an indoor-only kitty and should start out in a small room where I can’t hide at first, like a bathroom, so I can bond with you.

My foster home was very quiet, so I’m not sure how I’d do in a super busy or loud household. I’d do best with kids ages 6+ since I don’t like being picked up and can still be skittish. I need a patient family who will go slow and respect my space - and in return, I have so much love to give.
