My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cooper is a handsome, older gentleman who is looking for a comfy home where he can enjoy his golden years. This big love bug can be a bit shy in new situations, but he loves his people and he can be brave with a little encouragement from those he trusts. Cooper appears to be very interested in other dogs here in shelter, and his previous family informed us that he loves to play with friendly dogs at the park. He does have a history of chasing bunnies while on walks, so may not be suited to a home with small animals.

Despite his age, Cooper still has pep in his step and he absolutely loves going out for walks, playing ball. He is also equally content to just snuggle up and spend quality time with his people.

Cooper has not spent much time around children so we are unsure how he would do in a home with small kids, but he may do well with older/calm kids.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
