My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Atlas!

Atlas is a 70-lb, 10-year-old sweet and mellow boy who is ready for his next loving home — through no fault of his own. His person needs to move to a small apartment and unfortunately can’t take him along. Atlas would do well in an apartment or a home with room to stretch, as long as he gets regular walks and time outdoors, where he shows a surprisingly spry and playful side for a mellow guy.

This Husky/Shepherd mix is friendly with dogs and cats (he currently lives with a cat) and is great in public. Atlas truly loves everybody and has a way of making everyone fall for him instantly.

He is gentle and low-energy at home, and just wants a safe, loving place to snuggle and hang out with his people.

If you or someone you know is looking for a loving, mellow companion who also enjoys his outdoor adventures, please email us at SummitDogRescue@gmail.comwith a little about yourself, your home, and your lifestyle. One of our volunteers will get back to you shortly.

Additional adoption info

First you must fill out an application which we will review. Then we will do a phone interview, reference check and finally a home visit before a dog is placed in your home. We ONLY adopt to homes where the dog is an indoor dog, part of the family and treated as such. We stress excellent nutrition, proper training and follow up with all our adopters.

We are probably have one of the more thorough and difficult adoption processes... and we love that people want to adopt and don't want to discourage adopters! So please, if you're in a hurry, or not an exceptional furever home - please try other rescues or a SHELTER is a great option too!
