My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WETZEL

2 year, neutered male, 13 lbs

Chihuahua mix

Wetzel is a shy, lovable guy that is very easy-going and loves to chill. He would make a wonderful emotional support animal and needs a lot of attention. He’s good with new people, great with kids and fine with being crated.

LIKES: Attention! Treats, loves cuddles with his friends, but also seems okay with being more independent if he has the right people around.

DISLIKES: he doesn’t love when we leave but settles in his crate and is often sleeping when we get home. (Again, he’s very easy-going all around)

POTTY TRAINING: he marked more when he had first arrived with us, but it’s gotten much better in the past week.

CRATE TRAINING: he settles in quickly

OTHER/MISC: Would do okay in a home with dog savvy cats. If they run, he likes to chase but will otherwise leave them alone. He’s eager to please, and loves to cuddle, whether it’s with humans or other animals. He has done well in a home with other dogs and has met elementary-aged children and loves them. Does well on leash bit walks a little slower with very little pulling.

Tell us about yourself, family, other pets, and how WETZEL will mesh with your lifestyle. Qualifying applicants will be contacted by our Adoption Coordinator with next steps and an opportunity to set up a Meet & Greet.

Our process is NOT a “first come, first served” process. (We DO NOT hold pets for later consideration.) Our team carefully reviews and interviews applicants for the best possible fit for each adoptable pet, and potential family. Submitting an application does not guarantee a call or response from our rescue. Our volunteers will screen the applications and reach out if it is determined to be a good fit.

We look forward to facilitating a positive and solid adoption for WETZEL as well as his future family.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with an online application, submitted via our website. We do not guarantee a response, but will reach out if we think that it's a good fit and then arrange for a meet and greet. We do not hold dogs for more than 48 hours for a meet and greet, and if the dog is scheduled to go to an adoption event it will not be held back. We do not transport dogs out of area. We do same-day adoptions at our meet and greet appointments and adoption events. We offer a one-week trial period to our adopters to make sure that things work out, and we encourage adopters to be familiar with the 3-3-3 rule for dogs. We also highly encourage puppy classes for our puppies, as training is very important in ensuring that dogs stay in their forever homes.

All our dogs are in private foster homes prior to finding their forever homes. Please contact us if you see a dog you'd like to meet. To see multiple dogs, please check our website for our weekly adoption event times and locations.
