She enjoys going on walks, spending time with her people, and is already potty trained—a wonderful bonus for her future family.  Ellie’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. She was originally found as a stray in the woods, and despite being posted for several weeks, no one ever came forward to claim her. When she first arrived, she was in desperate need of veterinary care. Her skin showed clear signs that she had been left outdoors for quite some time.  Through it all, Ellie has remained resilient and joyful. Her spirit is strong, and she hasn’t let her past dim her bright personality. She is now healthy, happy, and ready to find the forever home she has always deserved.  &#226&#156&#168 About the Basenji Breed &#226&#156&#168 Ellie’s Basenji side shines through in her playful energy and unique charm! Here are a few things to know about the breed:  Known as the “barkless dog,” Basenjis typically make very little noise, though they may “yodel” or make other quirky sounds. They are intelligent and curious, which makes them fun companions but also means they benefit from consistent training and mental stimulation. Basenjis are energetic and love daily walks or playtime in a secured and fenced area like a backyard. They are often described as cat-like, since they are clean, independent, and enjoy grooming themselves.
