Story
SHELBY | 2 years old | Approx 30 lb | Toronto Meet Shelby, a sweet little companion who loves being close to her people. At about 23 pounds, Shelby is the perfect compact size. She's small enough to fit comfortably into everyday life, but sturdy and spunky enough to enjoy walks and little adventures. Shelby is an easygoing little dog who settles nicely into the rhythm of home life and enjoys simply being part of whatever you're doing Shelby's favorite place to be is simply near you. She's not a velcro lap dog, but she loves following along with whatever you're doing. Watching TV? She'll settle nearby. Cooking dinner? She'll quietly supervise from the kitchen floor. Working from home? She's happy to nap close by and keep you company. And she loves to sleep at your feet on the bed. Shelby has a lovely medium energy level. She enjoys her walks and explores nicely on leash, then is very content to relax and snooze once she's home. She'd make a wonderful companion for someone who wants a dog to share their daily rhythm. She's also a very smart little dog who quickly locks into routines. Shelby loves knowing what's happening next in the day, and she's quick to jump up and be ready for whatever follows next. When it comes to winter, Shelby prefers efficiency. She's not a big fan of bitter cold, so she tends to do her business quickly and head right back inside. Shelby can be a little shy when she first meets new people, but she warms up quickly and generally likes everyone once she feels comfortable. She often forms a special bond with "her person," while still being friendly with the rest of the household. She gets along well with adults, children, other dogs, and cats. She could do well as the only dog in a home where she gets lots of companionship, or with another friendly dog. If you're looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who will happily share your everyday life and keep you company wherever you go, Shelby might be the perfect match. (And yes — that's a GPS tracker on her collar. We place them on all of our foster dogs to help keep them safe.) Don't let this nugget pass you by! Canela is a gorgeous, brindle basenji/dachshund mix. She was found as a stray on the streets of Costa Rica. It wasn't safe so a local rescue took her into their care. She is spayed, utd vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, Snap 4dx negative, and vet checked. If interested, please email dcdgavel@gmail.com for an adoption application.

Occasionally has chewed the corners of books on a bookshelf. 💛 Aggression history: None 🩺 Medical history: No past or current health issues Dali is a bright, energetic young boy who loves to play and be around people.
