Story
Meet Ranger 🐾 Ranger is a gentle, sweet lover boy who truly embodies what a great family dog should be. If you’re looking for a dog who is wonderful with kids, affectionate with his people, and easy to love, Ranger may be your perfect match. Ranger is fully potty trained and can be trusted loose in the house. While he still has some puppy curiosity, he has never been destructive when left alone. On rare occasions, if bored, he may investigate things around the house—but nothing out of the ordinary for a young pup. Ranger does fantastic with other dogs and prefers female dogs, so he would do best in a home with a female canine companion. He currently lives with female dogs and thrives with them, enjoying nonstop playtime—especially with his dog friend River. While his cat experience is unknown, Ranger is wonderfully respectful of chickens and does not bother them at all—even when they free range. True to his hound nature, Ranger is loyal and attentive, with a nose that loves to work. He enjoys being outdoors with his people and has done well walking off-leash on trails with supervision. If left unattended outside, he may wander a bit, but never far—and always comes back. Because of this, he does best with an engaged family who enjoys being outside with him. Ranger does not need or enjoy a crate and would prefer to sleep with his family or nearby on the floor, especially since he tends to get warm at night. He’s a total snuggle bug and is just as happy cuddled up on the couch as he is exploring outdoors. He has a naturally submissive, easygoing temperament and communicates with the best hound howl and a low, classic hound bark. Ranger’s only “flaws”? He loves food and will happily check counters if given the chance—so keeping food pushed back and put away is a must. And like many hounds, he may wander if left unsupervised outdoors. Overall, Ranger is an incredibly good boy with minimal quirks and a whole lot of love to give. He’s ready for an active, affectionate family who wants a loyal companion by their side—and maybe on the couch too. 💙 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Story
Meet Coop, a teenage beagle/dachshund mix with lots of personality and confidence in a little low-rider body.  Coop is playful, super friendly and totally unfazed by the fact all his friends are bigger than him. He loves to zoom around the yard and have all his doggy friends chase him.  Coop is likely full grown at 8-9 months old and approximately 30 lbs. He has a beagle body and demeanor, and a dachshund face, but he may also have other breeds in the mix.  Coop was a stray who spent almost two months at the shelter before his foster mom brought him home. While we don’t know his past, Coop acts as if nothing bad has ever happened to him. He’s a confident little fella who greets every dog and human he meets with lots of love, including kids. He’s super affectionate and loves to cuddle and give kisses.  Coop is a very well-adjusted boy and would be an easy addition to almost any home. He’s potty trained, crate trained and walks great on a leash. He would do well in an apartment with an active owner who wants to walk him and take him to run around at the dog park. Or he would do great paired with another playful dog at a home with a big fenced-in yard. Coop is energetic, but he is happy to chill after his morning walk or playtime. He’s a really good boy who could easily be taken along for all of life’s adventures!
