Story
Meet Ginger! 🤎 Ginger is a gentle, sweet girl with a heart full of love to give. She may be a little unsure when meeting new people, but she warms up quickly with a little patience. Once she realizes you're there to be her friend, she'll happily snuggle right up beside you—and once the pets start, she hopes they never end! If you stop too soon, don't be surprised if she nudges in closer to politely ask for more affection. Ginger also loves spending time outdoors. Whether she's exploring, sniffing around, or simply enjoying the feel of the grass beneath her paws, she's happiest soaking up the fresh air. She's a pleasure to walk on a leash and enjoys leisurely strolls, though if something catches her eye, she might get excited and want to check it out! If you're looking for a loving companion who enjoys cuddles just as much as outdoor adventures, Ginger could be the perfect addition to your family. She's ready to find a home where she can share her sweet personality and receive all the love she deserves. ❤️ Stop in and meet my cute self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. I hope to meet you soon! All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

At six years old, she has perfected the art of being a relaxed, well-mannered house companion. Gretel is a professional lounger who is fully potty trained and knows exactly how to behave indoors. Story
Meet Brunson - The Big Hearted. At just 2 years old and 25 pounds, Brunson is proof that some dogs are born with hearts too big for the world they've been given. Brunson was abandoned behind a government building in Puerto Rico, where he spent over a month trying to survive on his own. The wooded area behind the building was home to packs of other dogs, and because Brunson is naturally so friendly, he constantly tried to make friends. Sadly, many of those encounters ended with him being attacked. Again and again, he approached other dogs with a wagging tail, never understanding why they didn't want to play.

Today, Brunson is living in foster care in Puerto Rico, and he has blossomed into the sweetest companion imaginable. He is incredibly affectionate and happiest when he's curled up next to his people. He's a laid-back, sleepy boy who would much rather spend the afternoon cuddling on the couch than causing any trouble. He loves everyone he meets and gets along beautifully with kids, cats, and other dogs. His foster describes him as the kind of dog who simply wants to love and be loved.

After everything he's been through, Brunson deserves a family that will never leave him behind again. He is currently being fostered in Puerto Rico and is available for adoption throughout the United States. Transportation to his forever home is included in his adoption fee.

If you're looking for a gentle, affectionate best friend with a heart of gold, Brunson is waiting patiently to meet you.

Story
Allow us to reintroduce Clyde. This sweet boy was adopted from us last summer, just about ten months ago. Now, at a little under a year old, Clyde has found himself back in rescue after his family made the difficult decision that they were no longer the right fit for him. Unfortunately, Clyde’s boundaries weren’t always understood or respected, and he became increasingly uncomfortable around the young children in the home. The hardest part? Clyde is still just a puppy. Although he was adopted at only about 10 weeks old, it’s clear that somewhere along the way, his communication and comfort level weren’t fully recognized. Dogs speak to us long before they ever feel the need to escalate, and it’s our job to listen. When Clyde came back to us today, he wasn’t the carefree, confident little puppy we sent home. He’s scared, unsure, and trying to figure out what comes next. Over the coming weeks, we’ll get to know him all over again, help him rebuild his confidence, and make sure we find the family that truly fits who Clyde is. While we are accepting applications on this handsome young Basset, we’ll be taking a little extra time with this adoption. We owe Clyde that. His next home needs to be his forever home—the one he deserved all along. So far, Clyde has been wonderful with other dogs, is house and kennel trained, has shown no interest in cats, and has done well around our chickens. Welcome back, sweet boy. We’re going to make sure we get it right this time.

Story
Click here for Arnold's Facebook Album June 2026: Arnold has found a loving foster home- YAY!! DNA results are in and Arnold and Dempster are 86% Beagle with another 6% Bassett and Labrador. They do have longer bodies like a Bassett Hound but sound all Beagle. Arnold, Dempster and Queenie as seen in their original Memphis, TN shelter video: https://youtube.com/shorts/FdASOSHTyP4?feature=share were dumped by family members after their owner died. All 3 tested positive for heartworms and all surely have tick borne disease and I can only imagine how bad Queenie's teeth are. They are all now safe in the Chicago area after a transport out of Memphis on 9-26. These 3 dogs have suffered some neglect besides their health care neglect, but with some time and patience they will learn to trust humans. Queenie has moved to her own foster. Arnold and Dempster just need a lot of human interaction and cuddles to help build their confidence. They are great with other dogs so a foster with confident well socialized dogs in the home will help them adjust to kindness. We need some exceptional fosters or foster to adopt homes that will help with their heartworm slow kill treatment plan. If you can help a frightened, neglected Beagle over come some serious neglect and learn to trust humans again, please PM me. Our foster or adoption application can be found at www.helpibr.org If you would like to help with their medical expenses, we have PayPal at www.illinoisbirddogrescue.org VENMO with @illinoisbirddogrescue and ZELLE with info@illinoisbirddogrescue.org If you would like to help, please click HERE to submit a foster to adopt home application. Story
Siren is a calm, gentle, quiet girl who joined us from rural Kentucky. It appeared she had had very little human interaction when joining BAARK last year, but with time and patience, she has come out of her shell and has become a little more confident….but does have a ways to go. Siren is definitely a Mix Breed, possibly a Beagle-Heeler, with other breeds sprinkled in! She’s an estimated 32 lbs. born in January of 2021. This sweet girl enjoys the company of other dogs in her foster home, but prefers calm dogs. She can become startled by loud noises and quick movement but as her confident continues to grow, such things will likely not bother her. Siren is most likely to thrive in a quieter household consisting of adults. But older children, respectful of animals, would be good for Siren as well. She’d really enjoy the companionship of a calm, possibly older dog too. A secure fenced yard is also a plus. Siren is up to date on her vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. She is believed to be housebroken as well. If you are interested in adding Siren to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, and adopts local to our area.

Story
Meet Lilly a sweet, gentle Beagle/Hound who joined us a few months ago, along with two of her sisters, all confiscated from a hoarding situation. She is just over a year old (est DOB 12-05-2023) and weighs about 28 lbs. In her foster home, Lilly is working on her social skills and, learning to become a dog! She enjoys playing with other dogs, and prefers to be with dogs, over people. Lilly may be ok with older children (over age 12) But she especially enjoys being with another dog. Lilly is looking to become part of a family that is patient, compassionate, and loving, and to living her best life in an environment that is calm and not overly hectic. Beagle/hound experience is a big plus. Because she enjoys being outside, a secure fenced (above ground) yard is very important to her. Lilly is not disposed to being an apartment dweller or living in a condo. She likes to bark and such environments would not be appropriate for her. Lilly is fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. If you believe you are an ideal family for Lilly and would like to welcome her into your household, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895 for an adoption application and any specific questions about Tabby. Note that BAARK is located in the NW suburbs of Chicago, and adopt only local at our area.

Story
Pearl is currently at the SCCR Adoption Center. If you would like to meet her, please start by visiting www.sccrescue.org and completing an application. My name is Pearl, and I’m a real gem! I’m black with brown markings. I’m about 8-weeks old and am expected to be about 40-lbs when full grown! I like everyone to know that I’m my sisters’ keeper. No one can bully them except me! I’ve got energy for days and can sleep like the shiny pearl I am, nestled in a very comfy pillow. We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess. Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
