Story
Sarah is a very loving, sweet, funny and loves having fun. We have three other dogs and Sarah has turned aggressive towards our two other female dogs. She got into a fight with Lexie our Staffy Pit Bull and Sarah was injured. Sarah is recovering from her injuries and has gotten even more aggressive towards Lexie. We are keeping them separated to protect Sarah. We have asked our vet what can we do too keep all of the dogs and she suggested rehoming Sarah for her protection. I am heart is broken, but it would not be fair to Sarah to keep her and something bad happen to her. Our Vet suggested that she be an only dog home or to be placed with male dogs. I feel like she needs to be in a one dog only home. Sarah will be three on December 5, 2024. Please help us find a good home for her. Any questions please contact me (D'Anna) at (xxx) xxx-xxxx .

Story
*WILL NOT SHIP ACROSS COUNTRY* Penelope is a loving, energetic, kind dog. Shes great with kids and my two cats, and she was rescued a couple months ago. Me and my family found her abandoned in a parking lot of a Renaissance Faire and took her home. While we love her, we live in a very small apartment and do not have a yard or place for her to visit, and we are not home very often. She is kennel trained and is house-trained, rarely having accidents. We just dont have the space or time to care for her, and I would love to give her to a family that can give her the love and attention she needs.

Story
Introducing Gambit - the name's not just a coincidence; it's a testament to my ability to shape my destiny. Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a dash of X-Men flair and you're ready to give me the chance I deserve, let's make it happen. I can't wait to meet you and start this exciting new chapter together! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
Say hello to Calvin! Mr. Calvin here might be the Calvin to your Hobbes, he's so sweet! Calvin was given up by his finder to our rescue recently but he's in good hands. He instantly warmed up and got along with everyone here as soon as we got him. Calvin is a Beagle mix, he's a bit of a bigger boy with his stubby legs- kind of like a super solid beagle but isn't short. Calvin loves getting attention, he'll bump you with his head so you notice and pay attention to him! He'll need a bit of leash work but is very eager to get to work! That is what people notice most about Calvin, is his eagerness. He will need slow introductions to other people and animals as he can warm up to others slowly sometimes. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Snoopy is a 4+ year old Beagle mix, weighing 39 pounds. He walks well on leash and appears to be housetrained. He is mild-mannered and gentle. He is super sweet and affectionate. He gets along well with most other dogs. He has tested okay with cats. He knows “sit” and would do well with further training. Snoopy does have some allergies that cause skin issues. It is something that will have to be managed throughout his life. He is otherwise healthy, heartworm negative, and neutered. He will be microchipped at the time of adoption. Snoopy will do well with an active family that can provide him with the exercise he needs. ....................................If you would like further information or would like to request an adoption application, please e-mail us directly adopt@thehss.org If you request an application and don’t receive it check your spam or junk mail file.
