Story
🐾💕 Howdy there! My name is Snoopy! 💕🐾I’m a 2-year-old, 41-pound Beagle/Treeing Walker Coonhound mix, and I’m here to tell you that good manners, a happy heart, and a healthy appreciation for sniffing absolutely everything make me one heck of a charming gentleman! 😎🐾I’m a happy-go-lucky fella with SO much love to give. My previous owners abandoned me at another shelter for reasons I’ll never understand, and I stayed there until the Humane Society of the Ouachitas finally had room for me. I’ve been through a few changes, but somehow I’ve managed to keep my sweet spirit and my faith that good things are coming my way. ❤️ And let me tell you something—I am quite the well-mannered gentleman. I don’t jump up, I’m incredibly gentle, and I do wonderfully with older folks. I walk beautifully on a leash without pulling, although I must warn you… I am a hound dog, and my nose has QUESTIONS. Lots and lots of questions. Every bush, blade of grass, flower, and mysterious scent deserves a thorough investigation. 🌹👃I’m also fantastic with other dogs! I can adjust to all sorts of different personalities, which makes me a wonderful candidate for playgroups. I’m pretty easygoing about making friends and am happy to hang out with the canine crowd. Going somewhere? Count me in! 🚗 I load into the car easily and love going for rides. I’m also a big fan of playing ball and squeaky toys, so I can definitely bring some fun and entertainment to your household. And after I’ve had my playtime, I’m perfectly happy to settle down beside my people for some attention and snuggles. I’m a smart boy, too. I’m highly intelligent, eager to please, and a great listener. I already know sit and paw, and my shelter friends have a sneaking suspicion there are probably a few more tricks hiding in this handsome head of mine just waiting to be discovered. 🎓🐾One of my favorite things about myself is how calm I am—even when things around me are busy and energetic. I take things in stride, which is one reason my shelter friends think I could potentially make a wonderful emotional-support companion with the right home and training. They also believe my intelligence and calm nature could give me potential for more advanced training, including service-dog work, depending on the training program and evaluation. I haven’t been introduced to children yet, so we can’t officially say how I am with them. But based on my gentle, easygoing personality, my friends think I could do very well with respectful kids. Because I was originally abandoned at a shelter, there are still a few things about my past that we simply don’t know. We can’t guarantee that I’m completely house trained yet, but I know how to use a doggie door and prefer to do my business on the outdoor portion of my kennel. With my good manners and willingness to learn, my shelter friends think I’ll probably catch on quickly in a home. 🏡I’m medium to high energy, so I’d love a family who enjoys walks, playtime, and getting out and about. But I’m not an all-day-motion kind of guy! Once the fun is over, I’m perfectly content to sit with my people, soak up some attention, and enjoy a good cuddle. And for a hound dog, I’m actually a pretty quiet fella. No constant baying from me—I’d much rather save my energy for playing, sniffing, and being your charming four-legged sidekick. So if you’re looking for a sweet, intelligent, well-mannered hound with a goofy nose, a playful side, excellent leash manners, and a whole lot of love to give, I think we should meet. I’ve already been a very good boy while waiting for my second chance. Now I’m hoping my forever family is out there somewhere saying, “Yep… THAT’S our Snoopy!” 🐾❤️📞 Call the Humane Society of the Ouachitas at 479-394-5682 to find out more about me!****************All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
