Story
Meet Cubby a Lab/Beagle mix that lost the only home he ever knew when his owner passed away. Since then, the shelter has been his whole world for 1,364 days, but it’s never felt like home. He’s a gentle, laid-back couch potato who just wants a quiet place to rest his head and someone to love again. He would do best in an adult-only home where he can feel safe, and finally at peace. He’s not asking for much—just a soft couch, a kind heart, and a second chance. Please consider fostering or adopting him. He’s waited long enough. To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Due to the high volume of applications received, our Adoption Coordinator will only contact the applicant that best meets the needs of the pet.

Story
Lexie is a tricolored female Beagle mix that grew up in a tough part of town. Besides the elderly man that took her under his wing, the other neighborhood residents were not very kind to her. Lacking resources to properly care for them and fearing for their safety, he reached out to us for help. Fortunately, we were able to bring her into our rescue. At first, Lexie was understandably wary of volunteers. It has been a journey gaining her trust. With patience and love, our volunteers showed her not all people were bad and soon won her over. She has really blossomed during her time with us. Lexie was born in 2019 and weighs 20 pounds. She is a good fit for an adult or family with teenage children that are home most of the day. She takes comfort in knowing you are near. Lexie prefers a quiet calm home where she can putter around and relax with the family. Visitors should be few as she is wary of strangers. She doesn’t expect you to fuss over her but does enjoy a soft pat on the head. Lexie enjoys when you talk to her as you do things around the house. She does well on a set schedule and a routine gives her a sense of security. Another calm confident dog in the home would be a good companion for her. Outdoor rest breaks are limited at the shelter, so she may need more work to be fully housebroken. A home with a fenced-in backyard is a must. Lexie prefers exploring and running outdoors over going on walks. On sunny days, Lexie likes to sprawl out in the grass and catch a few rays. A fenced yard is a must for this sweet, timid little lady. Shy sweet Lexie is searching for a family that will give her a wonderful life. We hope that will be with you!To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Story
Meet Dolly – A True Survivor Ready for Her Forever Home! Some dogs have a story that reminds us just how resilient they are, and Dolly is one of them. Several months ago, Dolly was found as a stray after being struck by a car. She was taken to Catoosa County Animal Shelter, where they immediately worked with rescue partners to get her the emergency care she desperately needed. Dolly spent a week in the ER before we learned she had suffered a broken pelvis and would require 8–10 weeks of strict crate rest to heal. She spent those weeks with us, and through it all, she never lost her sweet spirit. Once she was fully healed, Dolly earned a spot in our incredible training program at Walker State Prison. There, her dedicated handlers poured their hearts into helping her grow, and Dolly soaked up every lesson. At graduation, she made us all proud by earning the highest score in her class! Dolly has waited so long for this moment, and now she's finally ready to find the family she's always deserved. Around 4 years old Beagle mix Heartworm negative Current on vaccines and preventions Knows basic obedience thanks to her amazing handlers Ready to be your loyal best friend Dolly has overcome pain, months of recovery, and a long wait. Now all she needs is someone to give her the happy ending she's been waiting for. Could that someone be you? Please help us find Dolly the forever home she has worked so hard to reach. Story
Meet the incredible Scout! This sweet soul was discovered at a common dumping ground, just trying to survive and find scraps of food in a world that didn’t treat him kindly. Luckily, we swooped in to rescue him and provide him the safety he desperately needs. Scout is about 30 pounds of pure heart and is estimated to be around 6-7 years old 🥰. Poor Scout has faced some tough circumstances, as he tested positive for heartworms. The good news is it was a low positive, so he’s been on Heartgard, since rescued! 🎉 Let’s keep our fingers crossed that by he’ll be heartworm negative very soon (usually takes a year in most cases). He is as sweet as pie, but Scout can be a little anxious/shy at first. He just needs a little time to trust and realize he's safe now! We’re committed to helping him feel secure and loved. Remember, this fella will require a fenced yard because hounds like him are notorious for following their noses into mischief! 🐕 Scout definitely needs a dog buddy in his home too. 🤩 His adoption fee is $100, which helps cover some of the costs like his neutering, vaccinations, microchip, flea prevention, and all the other goodies he enjoyed while with us. However, it's crucial that he stays on heartworm prevention for life. To adopt Scout, it's essential to apply through our website www.fureverfurkids.com and remember, we do home checks (either in person or virtually) to ensure every pet goes to the safest of homes! If you're serious about adding this adorable hound to your family Once a pet is adopted, they must come back to us if life circumstances change, so please be sure you're ready for a lifelong commitment! Thank you for considering Scout and his friends who are all in need of loving homes. 🏡
