Story
Say hello to Pete the adorable Beagle mix! He is around 8 months old and although initially shy due to not being properly socialized prior to rescue, he quickly warms up and soon approaches with tail wags and kisses! Pete is learning that humans bring good things such as treats and lots of petting. While shy with humans, Pete loves dogs of all sizes and ages. He has excellent dog manners and has not shown any aggression when meeting new friends. Pete would do best in a home with another dog to play with, and to help build his confidence. He loves to play chase in the fenced yard with foster brother who is a Husky mix. Pete is doing well with walking on leash. He feels more comfortable in a harness rather than having a leash attached to his collar. Walks can be a bit slow as Pete encounters new and unfamiliar things. He sometimes needs a little encouragement to keep moving along. Walking with a canine companion, and treats helps the process. As a typical Beagle, Pete LOVES to eat. When his bowl appears Pete will perform the happy dog dance much like Snoopy the famous cartoon Beagle. His other Beagle like qualities include sniffing all over the yard, and hunting for treats foster mom hides around the house to keep him busy. Pete has been a fairly quiet pup in foster care. However he did sing the song of his people late one night when the wild turkey flock across the road had a late night party. If you're looking for a great family dog, Pete is your guy. He will fit in well with male or female dogs of any size. We aren't sure how he feels about cats, but he's been great with small dogs so may do ok with a cat. Pete would do best in a home with older children as he can be fearful with sudden movements or unexpected sounds.
