Meet Lewey: A Beagle Who Never Gave Up Hope Some dogs come to us with stories that break our hearts but also remind us just how resilient dogs can be. Meet Lewey, a sweet 1 year old, 27.5-pound Beagle who spent approximately four months surviving on his own, wandering as a stray and trying to make it through each day. Despite numerous efforts, no one came forward looking for him, and there were no reports of him missing. Thankfully, Lewey's story took a turn for the better when a compassionate family refused to give up on him. After weeks of trying, they were finally able to safely trap and rescue him. His rescuers immediately got him veterinary care, vaccinations, and, most importantly, a safe place to begin healing. It's clear that Lewey has not always been treated with the kindness he deserves. He can be timid and cautious when meeting new people, but every day, this brave little Beagle is learning that not all humans will hurt him. And the progress he has made is incredible. Lewey absolutely adores other dogs. In fact, his foster family's dog has become his security blanket, best friend, teacher, and confidence coach all rolled into one. He follows his canine buddy everywhere and is learning how wonderful life as a beloved family dog can be. With patience, love, and another friendly dog to show him the ropes, Lewey continues to blossom. Tiger is an amazing 1 year old dog. He’s super sweet, he has the cutest howl, he’s amazing with children. I have an autistic 5 year old and Tiger is very gentle with him. Tiger is very energetic he loves to run and play with his toys. He has a bit of separation anxiety. He howls when it’s bedtime and everyone goes upstairs. Tiger needs an owner that will have the time to be with him more so than not. He needs to be able to be fully house trained or an outside dog. He’s never bitten anyone and he loves other dogs. The only reason Tiger needs to be rehomed is because I just got a new job offer where I’ll rarely be home, and my children will be in school mostly all day until late afternoon. Tiger will need more attention and care during those times. I don’t want him becoming lonely. He deserves the absolute best because he’s such a great dog.
